Phuket: Seastone Villa

There was a 1 for 1 Tiger Airways promo last year sometime in August and we decided to plan a getaway. As the boyf has never been to Phuket, we decided on Phuket. It costs us SGD232 for 2 pax to fly over. 

Because we are both lazy people who dislike going on tours and all those planned itineries, we settled on a Villa that would provide us with everything. As we are budget hunters, we would never pay too much for a place to stay. This place I'm going to introduce is pretty good enough for anyone who plans to getaway with a group of friends, a honeymoon or just some time out from work.

The kitchen with almost everything provided for. On the 1st day, there are some snacks provided for you and everyday, they will replenish the distilled water with 2 additional bottles.Plates, utensils, dishwashing liquid and sponge are also provided for.

Now...introducing you to the outdoors! This is the mini swimming pool and the jacuzzi. It is quite squeezy for 2 to swim laps in the pool but it was good enough for us. Because I am so short, I can't even tip toe in the pool. So if you're a parent bring kids along, I would strongly advise bringing floats etc. 

The jacuzzi and if you're wondering why there is a door there, it is because that is another room for 2. There is no bathtub there, just the normal shower bathroom with a king sized bed and a tv console.

Because we had booked a villa meant for 4 persons, we were given 4 sets of breakfast daily and we got to choose between some Thai dishes or American Breakfast sets with different types of eggs. You can choose from poached eggs, soft boiled eggs, hard boiled, scrambled egg or omelette. We've tried them all and they taste average. 

This was our lunch on the 2nd day after our trip out to the Supermarket.

We decided to make good use of all the equipments there by cooking  our dinner and KFC inspired us to better their chicken. So the bf decided to microwave these chicks first.

Service: 4/5 
Staff were friendly but not completely honest. We were expecting a villa with a swimming pool AND an outdoor jacuzzi as booked on agoda but during the whole check in process, nothing about the room was mentioned to us until I asked a random question about their occupancy and they told us there were no outdoor jacuzzis available and they were offering us a villa with a BIGGER pool. We were very upset with us they had just taken our booking for granted and decided to make decisions on their own without even informing us.

Coming from a hotel with high expectations, I wasn't going to let this matter off so easily. I had paid for 4 nights and they are not going to spoil my long await getaway. We mentioned about their dishonesty and demanded some form of monetary compensation since they couldn't deliver what was promised upon confirmation of our booking and initially, the manager still insisted that a bigger swimming pool was equivalent to that of an outdoor jacuzzi. After a good 5 to 10 minutes I was losing my cool and I brought up the fact that I worked in a hotel and such things are never compromised and all that reasoning.

The manager then told us to wait for awhile while she went to make a call. Lo and behold, this time, we were told to wait another 10 minutes while they prepare the villa for us. We didn't want to argue anymore and was just glad that we had got what we paid for.

What impressed us further was the service recovery. To make up for the incident, we were surprised with a free dinner for that day which came in handy because we had NOTHING to eat for dinner. We didn't expect and I was really impressed with it, hence, the 4 stars. Minus 1 star for dishonesty.

Housekeeping: 4/5
Everyday, they will send 2-3 room attendants to make the beds, wash your dishes sweep the floor etc. I give them 4 stars because usually the utensils are still oily after washing. But I'm not complaining because we would gladly wash up on our own after messing up the place.

Convenience: 1/5
It is super inconvenient getting to Seastone and they only provide 1 trip at 11am daily to the nearby supermarket. If you'll prefer other timings, then do be prepared to pay about 400baht for a single trip.

To get to Patong or any other town areas in Phuket wil cost you a good 700 - 800 baht per trip (1 way)

But if you really want to travel out, then you can always rent a bike for 200 baht for a day.

Conclusion: We would still go back to the place simply because both of us are lazy people who are just contented with all the amenities in the villa and the single trip where we can stock up on our groceries and cook our own meals.
